The City Of Toronto has an informative fact sheet posted showing all reported collisions between cyclists and motorized vehicles in 2004.

Of the 1171 collisions, 1054 occurred when conditions were dry.  Nearly half (548) occurred in a situation with no traffic control (i.e. traffic light, stop sign, et cetera).

624 of the collisions occurred on major arterial roads (like Bloor st.).  If you look at the map on page 2, you can see this clearly, as well as the fact that the density of collisions downtown is much higher, and that collisions are more prevalent on East – West streets (like Bloor st.).
